Meet The Team

Richard Smith HNC MCSE MCTS
Founder and Managing Director

Richard has both a technical and engineering background, acquired whilst working with a number of large corporate engineering organisations, including Costain, Trafalgar House, and Aoki Soletanche. He gained extensive IT experience whilst running large IT projects for companies including TUI Travel and Going Places.

Richard founded Tegen in 2002, to provide SMEs with outsourced IT services and consultancy. Tegen's aim was to help organisations grow, as well as reduce the risks associated with IT in business today.

In his spare time, Richard loves the great outdoors and is a keen water sports enthusiast.

Operations Manager

Ben's role within Tegen is to provide 3rd line technical support and account management to Tegen's extensive customer base.

Ben's background in IT began with the Service Children's Education in the British Forces, Germany. He provided IT support for a secondary school and sixth form college. He moved back to the UK in 2007 where he worked in networking and infrastructure support for a large vending servicing company supporting almost 200 users. This progressed into IT management, including responsibility for the company's IT infrastructure, project and line management, whilst retraining a heavy technical role. It was here that Ben spent time gaining his Microsoft qualifications.

In Ben's spare time, he enjoys spending time with his partner and young daughter. He loves experience days, such as rallying, supercar racing and piloting small planes.

Ben spent all of his childhood years living in different countries around the world including Hong Kong and Germany.

Rick Meacham MCP
Senior Engineer

Rick has over 16 years’ experience in IT support; 12 of which are in the IT managed service provider (MSP) sector. He has supported almost every kind of business from small 5 man offices to multinationals – involving himself in technical pre sales, technical meetings and training for staff.

Rick has joined the growing senior team at Tegen to deal with 3rd line support and new customer projects going forward. He will be involved in the entire IT account management of key customers, so they know they have someone who knows their projects inside and out.

Did you know?

In March 2015 Rick obtained a Black Belt in Wado Ryu Karate and also trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!

Ashley Songhurst IT Diploma Level 2
Technical Support Engineer

Ashley joined Tegen in August 2012 to help Tegen with on-site work and technical support on the helpdesk.

Ashley left school right after completing his GCSEs to come and work at Tegen. After a year of study, he completed his level 2 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence and is currently studying for his MCSE in Windows Server 2012.

Outside of the office Ashley spends time with friends. As a motor enthusiast he likes nothing better than tinkering with his cars in the garage.

Ashley is a fully qualified Scuba Diver with 7 years' experience and dives all over the UK and abroad.

Byron Black
Senior Engineer

Byron is one of the newest member of Tegen’s technical team. His role within the team is to assist on the helpdesk, undertake projects and perform on-site work. With the company growing, the amount of work the support team have is growing and Byron was brought in to continue to keep our levels of service at a high standard.

Byron has always been enthusiastic about IT and technology in general. This obsession started when he was 5 years old, playing games on his grandfather’s 486 computer, which later became his own first computer. From then up until now, he has always had a computer in his life (Except for when he is camping!)

Did you know?

When Byron finished School, he went to work as a tree feller in Norway.

Luke Bryant
Support Engineer

Luke’s IT career started at East Sussex County Council as an apprentice, operating as a 1st line technician. Within a year he had progressed through to regional technician, supporting the Eastbourne area for the next 18 months. After 2 and a half years at ESCC Luke travelled to Australia where he worked for the Department of Premier and Cabinet of Victoria, supporting Governors and Ministers for 6 months, before seeing the rest of Australia and finally heading home.

Luke’s role at Tegen is to provide remote and on-site support to customers, drawing on his past experiences, both personal and professional, to provide a thorough diagnosis and solution to Tegen’s client base.

He is a qualified Blacksmith, having spent 2 years at Brinsbury College studying metalworking.

Will Kinstrey
1st line Technical support engineer

Will has taken over as the youngest member of the Tegen team and is the latest employee to come in through the apprentice scheme. After finishing his GCSE’s and completing a year at Reigate College, he decided this route wasn’t for him as he was really interested in gaining real life work experience in a leading outsourced IT Company. Will is now able to learn the practical skills needed in this line of work as well as work towards an MTA qualification led by Microsoft. Read more about his apprenticeship scheme here.

Will is excited to be part of a growing company as first line support on Tegen’s Service Desk; he will be learning all about our client base and how best to support them.

Will rides BMX bikes in his spare time and knows a lot about cars!

Piotr Loskot
Technical Support Engineer

Piotr's role within Tegen is to provide remote support from the office as well as onsite support in the field to Tegen’s growing client base.

Before joining Tegen Piotr used to work with Ben Smyth, Tegen's Operations Manager. In his previous role he became experienced in installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults as well as solving technical and application problems. He will be great asset to the Tegen help desk as we continue to grow

Katie Murphy BSc
Senior Marketing Executive

Katie is responsible for all the Marketing activities within Tegen. She has a background in Sales and Marketing within the technology industry working for a company that manufactured Radio Broadcasting Equipment.

Katie is quickly learning about the world of IT Management and currently looking for those growing companies who need Tegen's help. She could be attending an exhibition, creating informative emails or writing helpful tips and advice to help your business, on the blog pages of the website.

In her spare time, Katie likes to get out in the great outdoors and head downhill on a mountain bike!

Did you know?

Katie gained her Competent Crew qualification whilst sailing around the Ionian Islands in Greece. Her dream is to sail in the Caribbean.

Pippa Forde AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
Accounts Manager

The Accounts Department is run by Pippa Forde who is responsible for all of the financial aspects of Tegen.

Pippa has been a bookkeeper for many years and has experience of most systems and industries. Her flair for bookkeeping began when she did the books for her father's cinema. Since then Pippa has gained several qualifications in bookkeeping, most recently an AAT qualification. Pippa is also a Professional Advisor for QuickBooks.

In her spare time, Pippa looks after her four growing children, husband and one dog. She enjoys movies, walking and taking time out to smell the roses!

Sue Thornton
Accounts Assistant

Sue Thornton supports the Accounts Team in a part-time role.

After 15 years in the world of banking Sue took a short break to have her family. Sue turned to bookkeeping to finish off what she started many years ago, accountancy, and will be starting her AAT course in January.

Sue enjoys spending her free time with her family, travel and socialising with friends.

Pippa and Sue have been friends since infant school.
